CANstructuction
This year ATS&R raised 3,400 cans of food for our sculpture. All of the food went to Second Harvest Food Shelf after the competition.
This being the land of 10,000 lakes, fishing is a large part of the Minnesotan cultural backbone. Everyone who has ever fished in this state has either told or heard an “I once caught a fish…THIS BIG!” story. Our fish is a 13’-6” large mouth bass. This design is constructed using the two main ingredients in creamy potato and corn soup: corn and potatoes. 295 hearty fishing lunches of creamy potato and corn soup could be made from our sculpture. In an effort to celebrate and support our community, 99% of the food used was processed regionally. (Materials and Resources LEED credit #5)
We competed against six other local firms. Our large mouth bass won two awards Juror’s Favorite and People’s Choice.
Habitat for Humanity… Three ATS&R employees volunteered a day to help build a house in Minneapolis for Habitat for Humanity's "Women Build" program. The house was in the framing phase and these ATS&R women helped with setting up scaffolding, installing I truss supports and preparing the house to start framing the second floor.
ATS&R Serves the Community… ATS&R participates in the local “Adopt a Park” program and is responsible for a portion of the Bassett Creek Trail near its office in Golden Valley, Minnesota. This project was initiated by “Greenprint” and enthusiastically embraced by all ATS&R staff members.
