Architecture
ATS&R brings high quality planning, design and construction services to your district.  Years of experience with schools coupled with involvement in national and local educational organizations as presenters and authors enables ATS&R to plan and design your schools for the 21st century.  ATS&R’s architectural department includes experienced registered architects, Recognized Educational Facility Planners, certified specifiers, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accredited professionals, and experienced construction document technologists.  Our award-winning projects are the direct result of meeting your functional needs while creating appealing facilities that will last a life-time.

Planning
The unique qualifications of ATS&R’s recognized educational facility planners (REFP) will assist your district in planning and programming an educational facility ready to meet the ever-changing needs of your students, staff and community.  Educational facility planning services include conducting “information gathering” meetings and facilitating workshops with all user groups; developing educational specifications; integrating technology for educational delivery; and developing the space program and conceptual design options.

Mechanical
By working closely with the district’s personnel during the design and construction of mechanical systems, ATS&R’s experienced mechanical engineering department addresses the needs and requirements of the building’s users.  Our mechanical engineers involve the user in the decisions for the most cost efficient systems and LEED strategies to meet the demands of the facility.  Mechanical engineering services include designing heating, energy recovery, air conditioning, ventilation, temperature control, plumbing, fire protection, and commissioning systems.  The mechanical engineering staff designs for many types of systems including geothermal heat pump, gas-fired absorption cooling, gas engine driven chillers, passive and active energy recovery, thermal energy storage, swimming pool filtration, natatorium dehumidification, and building commissioning.

Electrical
The skilled and knowledgeable electrical department members provide design expertise for campus primary distribution systems.  Building electrical systems include electrical power, lighting, controls, energy monitoring, energy conservation, technology raceway and grounding infrastructure.  ATS&R’s electrical engineering department provides full design services in the following areas: lighting and power for educational buildings and sports facilities, electrical support for technology systems, electrical master planning, medium voltage distribution systems, protective relaying, customer-owned power generation for life-safety and utility peak control, and power supply and distribution for critical systems.

Interior Design
Your project will receive the sensitive expertise of the ATS&R interior design department as it addresses the needs of each individual building and space.  The imaginative staff of the interior design department will bring a fresh outlook as it provides the following services: planning, technology, furniture, fixtures, equipment and specifications.  Our staff is very responsive to your needs for floor, wall, and ceiling finishes, as well as specialty systems, and LEED strategies for a cleaner environment.  Our interior designers understand the importance of life-cycle cost analysis in the selection of materials and systems for your building.

Technology
Educational facilities need to be up-to-date and ready for future improvements in voice, video, data, security, and infrastructure.  ATS&R’s technology group has received national recognition in master planning, designing and implementing educational technology for our school clients.  ATS&R’s technology group expertise includes the following:  long-range planning, design, and implementation of telecommunications, data processing and networking systems, professional sound and intercom systems, interactive video, video production, process and distribution systems, security, and electronic surveillance and access control.

Site Development
Schools face site issues ranging from landscape planning, preservation, management and sustainable site development to detail designs for walkways, pavements, and areas adjacent to structures.  The site development department includes landscape architecture and civil engineering.  ATS&R’s highly qualified staff members in the site development department responsibly address the following needs on school sites: school and campus planning, sports field complex development, park and playground design, regional landscape planning, irrigation design, wetland mitigation, and sustainable design guidelines for the planning and development of sites.

Field Administration
A successful completion of the design and construction cycle is the goal of the ATS&R construction administration department.  ATS&R field administrators assist the contractors and owner with the construction of the building with the following services: on-site construction observation, conducting pre-construction conferences with the contractors and owner, review of pay applications, review of shop drawings, review and assistance in the construction schedule, review and cost verification of requests for change order proposals, implementation of change orders, communication of the architect’s supplemental instructions and requests for information, assistance in coordinating the color schedule implementation, conducting punchlists and substantial completion approvals, as well as facilitation of the final occupancy permit and project close-out.

Total Energy Checkpoint
Saving clients’ maintenance and operation costs is the purpose of ATS&R’s total energy checkpoint team (TEC).  ATS&R is committed to providing comprehensive services related to owning and operating a building that results in energy savings and optimal performance of the facility throughout the life of a building.  TEC’s goal is to provide your school district with the resources to optimize your facility’s energy use to save on energy consumption and save the district money.  ATS&R energy savings services include: commissioning, retro-commissioning, re-commissioning, facility re-classification, energy monitoring, energy analysis, electrical power factor analysis, facility studies, benchmarking, utility company resources, energy star certification and customized training for district staff.  We look forward to the TEC becoming part of your team.
